Motivation
How can blind and sighted players interact together in a virtual gaming environment? This was the basic question from which we started to develop ideas for our master project. The interaction between blind in sighted players in a shared environment is not well explored what makes the topic very interesting for deeper investigations. There are only a very few games that try to include blind players in video games. Another motivation is to work with a combination of many interesting technologies:
- The Microsoft Kinect to track the body of the sighted player
- The Phantom device to provide haptic feedback of the virtual world to the blind player
- The Oculus Rift and 3D Displays to render the scene in stereo for the sighted player
Our project goal is to create an awesome video game for blind and sighted players that addresses their individual strengths instead of deficits.
